About the Evening

On 19 April 2026, family, dignitaries, poets and lovers of Urdu gathered at the India International Centre for the unveiling of the first copy of A Celebration of Memories — the English translation of Sahar’s memoir Yaadon ka Jashn. The evening was a tribute to the cherished legacy of Kunwar Mohinder Singh ‘Sahar’ as both an eminent Urdu poet and a distinguished administrator.

The programme opened with the lighting of the lamp and a video profile, followed by the welcome address by Shri Ashwajit Singh. The first copy of the book was unveiled by the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Shri Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, with the Trust’s new website launched by the Guest of Honour, Shri Arif Mohammed Khan.

Addresses by the Guest of Honour and the Chief Guest were followed by an exposition of the book by Shri Abdul Rahim, and a reflection on the journey of it’s translation by Ms. Kamna Prasad, who carried the memoir across into English. The evening closed with a vote of thanks by Shri Eshaan Singh.

“Memory is the poet’s first country — Sahar returned to it again and again, and with this English edition we open that country to the world.”
